[23.Sep.10] Patents
– Brazil and Korea: “green-patents”,
quality and small enterprises
Source: INPI [adapted]
The Brazilian National Institute of Industrial
Property (INPI) and the Korean Intellectual Property
Office (KIPO) signed on 22.Sep.2010, in Geneva, Switzerland,
a cooperation agreement focusing on the exchange of
experience and IP promotion in both countries. The accord
was settled during the Assembly of Member-States of
the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO),
which took place between 20-29 Sep.2010.
As per the agreement, which will be soon
detailed, Brazil and South Korea will discuss themes
like classification of the so-called “green patents”
(which aim at the use of alternative energy sources)
and quality control in the granting of rights.
The two countries will also discuss
programs so that small and medium enterprises make increasingly
more use of the Intellectual Property system as a competitive
tool.
