The Brazilian president, Dilma Roussef, highlighted the importance of investments in innovation for the sustainable growth of the country. The declaration was made during Finep Innovation Award, at the Palácio do Planalto (the government headquarters), in Brasilia, on 15.Dec.2011.

This award evidences the importance of innovation for the government’s agenda. ‘We must educate and innovate, for this is how we will pave the way for this country to became a big global economy’, asserted the President.

The winners of the Finep Award received non-reimbursable resources, which vary from BRL 120.000,00 to BRL 2.000.000,00, depending on the category. This year, there were seven categories – Scientific and Technological Institute, Small Enterprise, Medium Enterprise, Social Technology, Innovative Inventor and the INOVAR project.
