>[25.Jan.10] General – INPI gives 60% discount to micro entrepreneurs

The individual microentrepreneur will have a reduction of up to 60% in the services provided by the Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI). According to the INPI’s Resolution no. 240/2010, published on 22.Jan.2010 in the Official Gazette, it is therefore enlarged the group of those already beneficiated by the discounts, formed by natural persons, cooperatives, micro and small-sized companies, educational institutes and government agencies.

The discounts granted by the INPI, which averaged 50%, increased, as of May.2009, to 60%, also contemplating a wider range of beneficiaries. With the inclusion of individual microentrepreneurs, said group becomes larger and the INPI reafirms its objective of stimulating the productive sector to use the intellectual property system as a tool for innovation.
